Maintaining your secret identity

How would I ever have a moment to myself, to be myself, and not feel like crap for it?

Yeah, I know. I’m ex-NHS, I’m probably more conditioned to think that I should sacrifice my well-being for the greater good than most people.

I think your position on this is probably realistic. It's one thing to understand, in an abstract way, that terrible things are going on around the world and not do anything but I think it would be a horse of an entirely different color to constantly be aware of them. It doesn't even need to be anything on a regional or city scale, imagine how many people are being mistreated within a 5 mile radius of you and you can hear it happening. I don't think I would want anyone who could easily rationalize that away is someone I'd feel comfortable having the power of Superman.

In that sense, it’s quite realistic that more or less the first thing Superman does in print is beat up a domestic abuser. I’m not sure I’d bother sewing myself a pretty costume first, though I would probably cover my face.
