whoah!! now that's a surprise, who would have figured anyone but me would dredge that weirdo out of the depths of obscurity? is it a Greyhawk adventure?
and it doesn't matter if he's epic or not - in the original module he didn't need to be defeated to win IIRC. he's bound to the will of a wizard, much to his chagrin.
Maure Castle (he says has he cheats and looks at the module)
guess they really had to go digging for that one! i'm going to have to check that out just to satisfy my own curiousity. who is it written by?
i'm actually thinking rather than putting him in the crypt, this is more incentive for me to leave him in there. it might just increase the flow of traffic to our site by 1% if someone picks up the magazine and does a Google search for Kerzit!
ah, well that explains a whole lot! they did write the original module of course...
ours could always be the weaker one, of course. i guess we'll have to wait and see what happens... maybe gary gygax heard or saw that we were converting Kerzit and the other monsters from the module, and said "hey rob, remember that module? wanna rework it for 3.5?"
or maybe that was just wishful thinking.
does the magazine feature the other creatures, or any other creatures?
It doesn't mention any additional creatures in the preview blurb, but Erik Mona mentioned in a thread over in General Discussion that it featured several monsters new to 3E.
Maure Castle an adventure for 4 12th level characters that takes place in the Dutchy of Urnst in Greyhawk. Written by Gary Gygax and Robert J. Kuntz. This module takes up the entire issue, and contains 4 full-page dungeon maps, plus a small inset map showing where in the Dutchy the castle is located. There are also 3 pages of new items, and 10 pages of new monsters for the adventure. The monsters are
Demon, Colchiln
Demon, Kerzit the Guardian
Demon, Nabassu
Hetfish - a tiny magical beast
Maurid - magical beast template
Shoosuva - large undead
Slow Shadow - medium outsider
Tyrg - large magical beast
OUCH! Make LOTS of room in the Crypt.
It'll be interesting to see how close our conversions are to theirs, though.
Cool, looks like they’ve used all the monsters from the original module! Plus the shoosuva, wow!
I’m still debating on whether or not to put them in the Crypt. I don’t always add monsters that have only been in new Dragon or Dungeon magazines, but they often reappear in other monster books later. we’ll see – I’ll have to get my hands on the magazine (really really want to) and then I’ll make up my mind.
