Premium TTRPG accessory maker Beadle & Grimm's has provided new details about the maps found in the upcoming Dungeon Master's Guide. Today, Beadle and Grimm's announced a new premium map collection featuring the maps found in the upcoming Dungeon Master's Guide. This set will contain 30 battle maps, all of which are "full-color realizations" of the black and white maps found in the appendix of the upcoming Core Rulebook. Additionally, Beadle and Grimm's map collection will include 2 canvas maps showing the City of Greyhawk and Eastern Oerik, along with a DM screen made specifically for the Greyhawk setting.

Wizards previously stated that the new Dungeon Master's Guide would include a Greyhawk setting guide and maps, but the 30 battle maps are new information and are assumably tied to the various mini-adventures also found in the new rulebook. The 30 maps include the following:

(LOS ANGELES, CA – September 26, 2024)
– Beadle and Grimm’s, a champion of the tabletop roleplaying game experience, announced today the unveiling of a premium map collection featuring the maps found in the appendix of DUNGEONS & DRAGONS’ highly anticipated new Dungeon Master’s Guide.

Featuring a box that opens book style, with a magnetic closing panel, this collection includes:

30 battle maps: B&G has commissioned artists to create full-color realizations of the black and white maps provided in the appendix of the 2024 Dungeon Master’s Guide. Epic battles deserve epic battle maps, and these large, sturdy maps are gridded for mini use.

2 canvas area maps: These maps of the City of Greyhawk and Eastern Oerik are 21x30” and printed on durable canvas.

DM screen: Greyhawk is a rich and intricate setting filled with power struggles and ever-shifting loyalties. This unique DM screen immerses the players into that world with epic art on the front while providing DM’s at-a-glance reference tables on the back. DM’s will be able to quickly rattle off Greyhawk details like the gods of the realm, the calendar, geography, and important names without missing a beat.

The Premium Map Collection can be pre-ordered at a discounted price for $144 until Sunday, October 6th, 2024. After the preorder sale period, the box will retail for $160.

“These 30 battle maps can be used and reused in virtually any classic D&D setting. However, the world of Greyhawk is featured in the highly awaited 2024 Dungeon Master’s Guide and if you’re planning to run a campaign set that world, or are simply a fan of that setting, then you’ll love the canvas maps and DM Screen,” said Jon Ciccolini, Beadle & Grimm’s lead on the product.

the DMG 2024 ones? where? Maybe I would be interested in the color version, if that exists
Not yet, but eventually. Part of WotC standard contract with artists includes artists retaining rights to sell prints, big part of why they get top artists all the time, aftermarket stuff like thst is a huge value to someone like Mike Schley using WotC IP.

The maps in the DMG, however, are black and white OSR style maps, per this press release, however. These volor maps were commissioned by Beadles & Grimm for this set.

How are they? I keep thinking that I want to give one a shot, but I wonder if they hit the sweet spot of "worth every extra penny".
I like the B&G products so much I wish they would go back and do adventures the preceded their project. It would be great to have a B&G version of Tomb of Annihilation or Storm King's Thunder.

The big battle maps are almost worth the price alone. I know people will tell you that you can just print the maps at a printshop. But that involves a very technical process of rescaling and gets quite expensive (if you are printing on very large paper in color) or time consuming (if you are cutting and taping together the maps printed on smaller paper).

OK, I really want to buy this and I just scored a consultant gig. Plus this is a tax deduction! Let's do some math:

GM's Screen: Retails for $20
Canvas Maps: Retail for a Lot. I see these going for $40 each or so. Huh. You get two.
Battle Maps: 30 of these. The Giant Book of Battle Maps from Loke is $47, but those maps are smaller than the 30 here. I think a fair retail price would be 50% more than that, let's call it $72.

Total is $172 retail for an equivalent product. This is $144 with the discount. With tax and shipping to WA, it comes to $173.02.

Wow, I did that math as I went and it is bang on. I think fate wants me to order this, but I'll wait until Sunday to make sure I am not completely impulse buying it.

wasn't sure if that is only a print limitation or the maps themselves are b&w. The B&G maps are also sometimes for sale online from the artist

Hey @Yenrak - Can you describe the material they are printed on? I'd love to tote these around in my DMing kit and use them at cons and such. Do you have a comparison for the map stock? Is it durable? Are they dry erasable?

My B&G legendary curse of Strahd box came in today. Im guessing the maps from it at similar in design to the 30 maps in this…and Mike brings up a good point about maps ability to travel as I’m heading to a session tomorrow about 45 minutes away. Might be something to go with a campaign terrain case to mix options up.

Sounds like the DMG maps themselves are the Dyson Logos-esque B&W maps...which makes sense for the purpose of a mini-catalog of reusable basic ground plans.
