I'd just hate to see an outsider wizard denied the ability to increase its Intelligence via magic simply because the spell has its namesake animal in the title. Just my 2 cents.

They are not denied this ability. They just have a restriction on their innate spell-like ability, but they can cast the spell fox's cunning (a wizard 4 can have it on its grimoire), and they can get it from another Vulpinal's spell-like ability.

True, but if it is acceptible for it to benefit from fox's cunning cast as a spell on itself, then why can't it benefit from a spell-like ability cast on itself?

If you really want to keep the flavor of them already having fox's cunning, why not just give them an ability that states that they already have a +4 enhancement bonus to Charisma due to an innate fox's cunning ability that is always active?

We could also just drop fox's cunning altogether, as the ursinal doesn't have bear's endurance in any form, the leonal doesn't have lion's charge, and the owl archon doesn't have owl's wisdom.
