[Malhavoc] Iron Lore

What's funny is, I was talking with my players about running a sword and sorcery game where magic is unpredictable and deadly and what matters is your trusty sword and skill with it.

And then comes Iron Lore. And damnit, it looks really good. It seems like they took my idea and took it further in ways I hadn't thought of. And well, I really want it. I don't think I've ever wanted a book this bad since:

The 3e PHB came out.
Manual of the Planes came out.
Oriental Adventures came out.
Paranoia XP came out.

And since Mike Mearls is at the helm, and it's being done by Malhavoc and Monte Cook, I feel very confident that this will be an excellent product and mechanically well done, as well as non-mechanically. If you haven't seen these links, maybe you should:

Again, it looks awesome. August seems so far away ... :(

Agreed Tal. This is the kind of product I'd like to see more of. The new base classes, not sure about but I'm CERTAINLY considering using the new feats, the mastery power and even more so, MORE stunts and manuvers! :D I loved them in Iron Might. Iron Lore will probably take it even further.

The mechanics have never been an issue IMHO from anything that Malhavoc has published.

Flavor though is another matter. The feel of this varient PHB, especially without a setting to help provide a framework for it, may be more difficult for some to get their gaming minds in synch with.

It will be interesting to see how this unfolds over the next few months.

Agreed. Iron Might is a really good book; my favorite portion of it was the maneuvers and how customizable they were.

It looks like Iron Lore is the game I've been wanting to run and play in since 3rd edition came out - a savage and heroic world of steel and blood.

There's already a lot of discussion going on about Iron Lore in this thread, which hasn't even fallen off the front page. There, you'll even find a lot of teasers about it from Mike Mearls himself.
