Malvoisin's Slumbering Tsar Saga IC [PFRPG]

It has been many days and many miles since setting out from Bard's Gate along the seldom-traveled 'road' (little more than a hard dirt track by this point) which leads north into the Desolation. At long last, the first stop on your journey should be drawing near...The Camp. None of you are quite sure what to expect from this reputedly unsavory place, but any variation from the bleak, flat landscape and sweltering sun will be a welcome respite at this point. Now, expectant that your destination should soon be coming into view, you have a few moments to share any final thoughts before entering the fringes of that ancient, terrible battleground from long ago.

OOC: Character introduction time! Give us the rundown of what you look like and why you're here, if you please.

Gerard Brigain (Human Battle Oracle 7)

Gerard Brigain finds a boulder to lean against for a few moments as he retrieves his waterskin. Though when he goes to retrieve one of his waterskins he seems to have more trouble than simply finding it. "Why do you need water? You have been dead for nearly ten years now." At first glance one would think he was talking to himself. "Bran release my waterskin before we visit another exorcist. You remember the last time? I choose to live with this curse." With that his waterskin is free. He pours some first on his exposed and sun touched face, then his armor before he drinks. "Not much further." He can see the camp in the distance and with his guisarme in hand he continues his travels.

Krool - Half-Orc Barbarian 7

Krool had endured the sweltering heat with ease, due to his earlier life trials. The desolation surrounding him for the miles it took to get near to the Camp was somewhat comforting. His mount, on the other hand, was a baby.

As soon as they had gone a few miles, the horse had already decided that it didn't like the weather, as it's stubborn attitude tried to dissuade its rider from continuing. A good thump on the head seemed to do the trick, as the horse made it thus far without much cajoling needed. Perhaps it was the sheer size of Krool that had the horse dreading the journey, as he was not the typical rider; being close to seven foot tall with muscles to show it wasn't due to overeating.

His breastplate was always worn when he could afford it, and the gear seemed to be light. The one item that seemed to stick out was his Earth Breaker; the large maul sized weapon with spikes on the end of the mallet. The handle was made of metal, and the head of the weapon was as well. It seemed to have been used frequently, for the weapon bore the markings of many battles, yet it's formidable size showed that it was still in perfect shape to continue bashing heads in if and when needed.

Realizing that he would soon be at the Camp, Krool pulls the horse to a stop, granting it one last drink before he would continue on. "Only a little while longer. Then you rest, stubborn mule."

Seeing the man argue with seeming empty air and mentioning exorcism, a seeming knight approaches him. "Well met brother, Sebastian of the Shining Blade at your service. Are you troubled by ghosts my friend? Perhaps I may be of service, I have had many battles with the undead", he says fingering the holy symbol of an upraised sword that is mirroed upon his shield.

As the group slowed down, the horse that trailed a few paces behind came up even with the others. Sitting atop it was what looked roughly like a conical mound of dust-dun cloth capped by a head hidden by a thin scarf wrapped around the mouth and nose, a pair of thick-lensed goggles over the eyes, and a wide-brimmed brown hat that had obviously seen good days and bad...and a lot of both.

Coming to a halt, the figure opened that 'cone,' revealing it to be a broad cloak or perhaps a kind of poncho, that had been gathered around. Underneath was a slim woman's body in a white blouse with rolled up sleeves and the top two buttons undone and a pair of fairly heavily made trousers the same hue as the sand and grit. The unbuttoning of said blouse displayed, rather than skin, a thin silvery glint of metal that clung to the body beneath as if it had been poured on as a liquid.

At her hip was a soft leather pouch, its flap not tied down so it could be accessed quickly. On the other side, a waterskin. She reached down to unlace it and take a modest series of gulps from it; showing round, freckled cheeks and lips surprisingly well-suited for smiling under the scarf in the process.

Eyes still hidden behind those round goggle lenses, she looked around at the others and smirked.

"Anyone got a clear idea how much longer it'll be?" she asked. Her voice had a slightly rough edge to it, a throatiness perhaps born of thirst or heat. Her accent was rural, a countryside twang that spoke of long days far from city comforts.

Vincent 'Viper' Peck, half-orc wizard 7

ooc: I assume that Viper can make ice from water using his at-will ray of frost. Mal, if you don't allow that use of the spell for some reason, he will have prepared prestidigitation instead of ghost sound, so he can chill objects. In either case, he will have provided the same service for the rest of the party.

Viper isn't thirsty - he can't remember the last time he was, thanks to his magic ring - but he lifts his waterskin to his face and viper-tattooed neck, using its cold surface to gain some relief from the heat.

The gray half-orc pulls his horse to halt when Krool does, letting the big gray mare take a drink. "Almost there, Rockie." The warhorse's studded leather barding must be uncomfortable in the heat, but at least Viper isn't wearing any armor, unless he counts the barbed vest which serves to help ward off predators rather than protect him directly.

Yes, almost there. Soon we will see what lies in those ancient ruins. Magic, no doubt ...

When the man who calls himself Sebastian rides up and offers his services, Viper chuckles a little.

ooc: I had thought that the party already knew each other and was traveling together, but either way is fine with me. Good to see you're in, RJ.

Zultaan halted his gray steed. "Not much farther now," the soft-spoken human replies. He draws down the hood covering his head for most of the journey and rubs a gauntleted hand through his short, black hair. "We should see the Camp up ahead."

Quiet and resolute, Zultaan, also known as the Scourge of Thyr, wears his holy symbol, a silver cross, openly across the scarlet tunic draped over his steel breastplate. Even in this heat, Zultaan keeps covered. Those of you who have traveled with him long enough knows that Zultaan bears the scars of a thousand battles, but does not wear these scars as a badge of honor. In fact, Zultaan keeps rather quiet about his past.

While traveling by horseback, Zultaan wears a battered steel shield at his back. His familiar mace, small nicks and dents and all, is still hung at his side. Zultaan keeps a longbow across his lap and a quiver of arrows slung on his saddle. He hunts for food and keeps the bow ready in case of ambush.

"I don't expect much trouble at the Camp," he says, looking into the distance. "They will know by the look of us to stay well away."

Gerard eyes Sebastian for just a moment before realizing he didn't know who he was talking to. "Brother Sebastian thank you for your offer but it's only Bran." He lets out a laugh. "The exorcism is a way to get him to stop being so troublesome."

He seems to drift off as he finishes. One could only guess as to where exactly his mind goes at times but anyone that knows his past or even knows of the boy named Bran can easily guess. Bran was, well still is to be exact, Gerard's little brother. One summer day when he was charged with watching over him, Gerard was careless and left his brother alone. After several hours Gerard returned to their childhood home to find his brother killed, slain by some nearby hill bandits, and the house in ruin. It didn't take him long to track down and kill the hill bandits that killed Bran but the guilt of leaving his little brother alone at the house remains. A fact that Bran's spirit reminds him of everyday.

"Well, the offer stands any time you need," he says in a serious tone. Then turning to the empty air "you remember that you rampscallion," he says with a twinkle in his eye.

Viper approaches the newcomer Sebastian, his greataxe gently jangling. "Well met. We intend to explore the ruins. A veteran undead slayer may come in handy there, should you wish to join us. You can call me Viper."
