Many Campaigns, One Finale?

Is this one of those epic campains where where you run several groups of characters against the same evil villan, except they don't know it, then at the very end they all coincidently bust into the same room at the same time and meet each other. I once thought of doing something like this.

I was thinking more along the lines of Group A takes down the evil priests, Group B defeats the slavers, and Group C wipes out the giants.
Then a few characters from A, B, & C each follow a few stray loose ends, meet each other, realize the drow are behind everything, and track them down to finish the job.

I think you can keep the timeline fairly loose and have it work -- part of the key is NOT letting the party know there's more to be found. Just let them do their thing, wrap up, and move onto the next one.

I think running two parties simultaneously is a bit of a gimmick, frankly. It's fun once, but a hassle to play.

Cheers
Nell.

Upon reading the title of this thread, I had the connotation of you ending each and every of your campaigns in the same room with the same guy giving the same final speech... :D

Far more interesting if its not the same room or same guy but the speech is hauntingly familiar....

I once ran a tourny that had some situations like this.

The first round was a set of characters chasing their kids/neieces/other related youngins who disapreared from magic school.

The second round was playing the characters (1st level mages) who had run away, while they were running. (FYI, a few groups used knowledge from the first round, which happens later, to try to change something, and every one got killed).

In round three, they switched between both for a time as they eventualy meet to foil the BBEG's plan.

For those wondering, the adventure was titled "Catgut Willie and the Whirling Vortex of Doom".
