Manyshot question...

Dwarmaj

First Post
If an archer has Manyshot and shoots a Blinking opponant, is there only one roll for the miss chance? Would all arrows either hit or miss since they were all fired using the same attack roll?

If an archer casts True Strike then uses Manyshot, do all arrows benefit from the +20 to hit, or just the first one?

One other side question...

If an archer and his opponant are both blinking, would you simply roll which planes each are on and if they are both on the material or ethereal apply damage on a hit?

Thanks

I'd say yes, one roll.

Note that it is possible for some arrows to hit and others to miss - for example, if one arrow is +3 and the others are mundane, an attack roll of 17 would mean the mundane arrows would miss AC 18, but the magic arrow would hit.

If one arrow somehow had a Ghost Touch or Force effect, its miss chance would only be 20% (or 0%), while the other arrows would have a miss chance of 50% (or 20%).

If an archer casts True Strike then uses Manyshot, do all arrows benefit from the +20 to hit, or just the first one?

True Strike affects your next single attack roll. All the arrows from Manyshot use the same roll, so they all benefit from the spell.

Urk. I'd say run it as written - 20% chance the attacker misses due to his Blink, and 50% chance the defender is missed due to his Blink.

Thanks for the reply

The attacker has a 20% miss chance because he shot into the ethereal and we're assuming his target is material. But if his target is ethereal, wouldn't that 20% actually hit his opponent if he's ethereal?

I was thinking that I should resolve what plane each are at when an attack is launched. If they're on the same plane then that attacks hits, if they're on different planes then it's a miss. Force arrows sure would be good against blinking opponants.:D

As long as you can see invisible, Force Arrows are better than Ghost Touch arrows against a Blinking opponent. If you can't see him, they're fairly equivalent - assuming all else is equal.

If you're both Blinking, remember that a Force Effect on the Ethereal Plane can't affect the Material Plane, and neither can Ghost Touch.
