CCNY (City College of New York) 1950

And they beat Bradley both times. Can't remember the name of their star player.

It's difficult to imagine now but the NIT used to be the bigger of the two tournaments (in prestige that is).

I stand corrected :)

Oh well, I know KY did it in 40's. And you're right, the NIT was bigger.. The Preseason NIT is still a pretty big feather as well.

Go Bears!

Of course, doesn't being a #8 seed mean that they will likely get stuck playing a #1 seed in the second round?

Yes, they must play #1 in round 2. Never before in the history of the tournament has #16 defeated #1.

Here's the bracket structure..

Code:
[color=white]
#1 vs. #16 |____
#8 vs. #9 | |
                 |_____
#5 vs. #12 |_____| |
#4 vs. #13 | |
                       |___________
#6 vs. #11 |_____ |
#3 vs. #14 | | |
                 |_____|
#7 vs. #10 |_____|
#2 vs. #15 |
[/color]

Naw, you don't get feathers for anything done in the preseason. There is no pressure.
