Marionnen's Musings: The Ineffective Iterative

The fix used in some of the games I've played in is that the first iterative is at full, then every subsequent attack is at -5, and that's it. So a level 20 full BAB character would be +2, then +15, +15, +15. It's usually done to give more power to the martial characters since they usually need the help.

Now, if D&D got a rewrite and actually made smashing and casting fairly equal I'm not sure what to say. Iteratives seem like a decent way of showing the weapon-based character is getting more powerful but it's possible to go with other routes like having more powerful attacks. Power Attack was possibly meant to simulate that of course but it doesn't do so good of a job.
