The source material of the SRD is a PDF. This makes it difficult to pull out text to use for players or authors of OGL content. Each person who wants to use it has to do their own conversions to editable text, some with more success than others.

This project is taking the source PDF and converting all of the text into Markdown. This is a text format that is easy to read and write. A lot of companies use it as the basis for documents, as there are a lot of converters out there that change it from markdown into Word, HTML, etc.

By doing this people will be able to download the project and have usable text at their fingertips. This means that players can copy and paste relevant abilities and publishers can use the text in their new products. It also means that folks could use it to build Web sites or tools.

D&D 5th Edition SRD in Markdown

FYI ... I have just completed re-writing a version of the D&D SRD5 (5th Edition SRD) in Markdown from the official PDF. This is NOT a simple conversion like many sites have done leaving all the conversion errors within, this is a complete paragraph-by-paragraph edit of the entire 5E SRD.

I have created this conversion specifically for those wishing to utilize the text in their own RPG publications per the OGL.

The documents are posted at ... www.ogl-srd5.com
