Marketplace/Bazaar Details

Is there a book or pdf that has a broad range of information about markets and/or bazaars? I am looking for wide-ranging details, such as long lists of items for sale, services offered, and/or extensive variety.

I am not looking for something like "Nine Marketplace Stalls."

The book, "Magical Medieval Society: Silk Road" has extensive information on various trade goods and has a lot of information on how those goods get to market, which might help you if what you're looking for is trying to design your own market system for a campaign world. It has a huge list of goods, though not much on services.

"Aurora's Whole Realms Catalog", also available in PDF, has a lot of neat and interesting goods in it which can help liven up a shopping trip.

If you're just looking for a well-designed and fully-fleshed out marketplace for a city or something, I'm afraid I've never seen such a product. I would think it very hard to create since markets come together based on what is around and what can be brought in, so good in one city's markets are just not applicable to the marketplace in another city.

If someone just had a long list like the example below, that would be great.

Saddle merchant: used saddles, bridles, and other horse-related gear.
Leather merchant: small bags, sacks, and pouches, including saddle bags and belt pouches
Cloth merchant: small coin purses, many with ribbons and fancy needlework

What do other DM's do if the PC's unexpectedly go to the metropolis' giant bazaar?
