Martial Powers Excerpt - The Feral Spirit

Looks good to me. I like that some of the powers, so far, have allowed both you AND the beast to move as part of the action. That screams "coordination" to me, although some might see it as just shifting figures on a board. To each their own.

Do we know anything about what the [Beast]'s attack power will be like? Comparable to [W]?

Recycled art is never desirable, it more or less translates to me ignoring the picture. But i can forgive them as long as its in a minority.

As for the PP: seems like your really basic, no frills path. Useful, dependable but not all that different from what the generic take on the build should be (I of course don't know what the Beastmaster powers looks like, but i'd imagine its pretty much this..Attacks from you dog, utilites to help you and your dog, attacks of you and your dog together, which is all this path does). I don't see this as a sudden divergence that will somehow seperate you from other beastmasters. Just more of the same. First impression is that it will be one of the underused Paths, due to lack of flavor, and no huge mechanical benefit. (the powers strike me as nice but nothing to ChaOp about).

I have great potential to be wrong in this, of course. But if you had the choice between this and a PP that made your pet into a spirit creature or gave it flaming jaws, why would you ever choose this "You become even better friends" path. Unless all the other paths really don't work well, you can just roleplay the "we're the bestest ever lone-wolf friends" and get your ghostly-fire dog too.

I am really hoping for a "spirit creature" PP or some manner of option. Spirit creatures as companions always interested me.

I also agree this isn't that unique but not a bad PP. I suspect this will definitely be a "bread and butter" PP, satisfactory and covers its bases but not anything really unique or special.

As for the image, I actually kinda like it. Since well, it is the image for my favourite kind of Ranger, the Urban one.

Even though the Beastmaster (and especially the Feral Spirit paragon path) shade into Primal territory, I think that too much of a supernatural emphasis on the animal companion detracts from the flavor of the Martial power source. I'm wonder if WoTC has a line drawn somewhere in order to keep the two power sources distinct from each other.

I think Paragon Path are no longer necessarily limited to one power source. IIRC, paragon powers usually do not necessarily denote a power source.

It looks like an ok paragon path, but honestly, this preview doesn't tell us much that's new about the Martial Power book.

Then again I don't know how much new stuff you should expect from the Martial Power book. More powers, feats and builds is what I am expecting and though they will not be world shattering, they will simply be needed for some much needed diversity in 4e character design...

I know, I just mean that... well, this is an extremely vanilla paragon path.
