I'm told that the 7 hour east-west drive across Saskatchewan can take days.

Texas is 12 - 15 hours. California North to South is 10-12 hours. Heck, just going from Utah to California (next door neighbors) is 8-10 hours, and going from SLC to San Francisco is 12.

Nevada can take 8-10 hours north to south (and there's nothing there, it's all just...empty.

The Western US states take a while to get through.

On the Northern end of the US West is Montana which is insane.

As one who has done much driving, thats easily the worst. Just flat, mind numbing, repeating on loop for hours.

My personal nominees for most boring that I've experienced are:
  • I-80 heading west from northern Illinois across Iowa and Nebraska into Colorado
  • when you make the wrong turn in Kentucky and drive Illinois south to north the entire way.
I have trouble picturing driving CA being boring since my only trips of any length there were on 1 - with a driver I didn't fully trust.

Try driving from the South End of Florida to the West end of the Panhandle. That will take a bit of a drive.

Or drive through Texas. That drive always seems longer than the Drive through California to be honest, even if it's somewhat similar.
,

They feel pretty similar to me, including the clime transition (east to west in Texas and north to south in California, though northern California is somewhat less marshy than east Texas).

All the states in the West are huge/massive. Nothing out East compares. Not Ohio, not Maine. Texas is the biggest, but all the states take a while to converse through if you go North to South. Some are prettier to drive on the Highway than others, but after driving out West, coming back East makes everything seem so much closer.

Its easy to tell just looking at the map.
