Mass Aid Spell?

From the Spell Compendium (p.8), it says it affects "multiple subjects at a distance" and the Targets description is "One or more creatures, no two of which are more than 30 feet apart."

Does that mean the spell can affect any number of creatures within the above parameters??? (i.e., up to 36 Medium creatures in a 30 x 30 foot space?!?!)

almost.

the range of the spell is Close, so (if I remember correctly) the entire area should be within Close range.

furthermore, all creatures should be within an area with a 15 foot radius. (if two creatures would be on opposite corners of a 30'x30 square, they would not be within 30' of eachother, thus outside the parameters of the effect.)

There seems to be no limit to the number of creatures affected.

Is that true? I thought it was just the center of the effect that had to be placed within the range.

A spell’s range indicates how far from you it can reach, as defined in the Range entry of the spell description. A spell’s range is the maximum distance from you that the spell’s effect can occur, as well as the maximum distance at which you can designate the spell’s point of origin. If any portion of the spell’s area would extend beyond this range, that area is wasted.
Emphasis mine.
