Massive Damage

I use (Con+lvl)*2 for massive damage saves, and additionally have attacks which do more than Con+Lvl but less than massive damage deal a d4 ability damage to a random ability score. I find Con+Lvl works quite well.
With a good Fort save, I think I'd rather risk the massive damage save than automatically take 1d4 ability damage.

In my Massive Damage Variant thread, I proposed the following:

A Massive Damage Check is triggered when an attack deals at least 50 Damage, with the DC being 10 + 1/per 10 points of damage, rounded down.

The only thing is that this scales well, to a point. It still starts at 50 damage, which in my mind is sub-optimal, but it does scale a bit better IMO.

A system based on the targets Con would be better, IMO - Quartz has a great idea going on there :)
