(Matrix Reloaded) Roy Jones Jr.

Anyone notice Roy Jones Jr. as Capt. Ballard, aka Bane's boss? If you don't know, Roy Jones Jr. is one of the most dominant boxers around, and holds many Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight titles. He got a fair amount of screen time for something that sounds like stunt casting at first glance. He also got one of the funnier lines in the beginning, when he tells Morpheus his ship will stay at broadcast depth just so he can see what Lock will do to Morpheus for disobeying an order.

Anyone else spot any good cameo casting? I heard some famous philosopher/academic that the Wachowskis are fans of was one of the Zion council members, but I don't know who.

The man you refer to is Cornell West.

He's the frazzle haired black man on the council who requests that a ship be dispatched to ascetain the fate of the One after the lead council lady asks if there has been word from the Nebuchennezzar.

Noticed, just didn't pay it any attention.:) And Roy only has one heavyweight title, though as long as he continues to very carefully picks his opponents, that could change over the next couple of years.

I think that one heavyweight title is in some division where they don't have a lightheavyweight ranking, or their heavyweights are lighter or something. And yeah, picking his opponents has always been the knock on him. Still a very good fighter though, and I'd love to see him against someone of a higher stature.

Jeez, remember when there was ONE heavyweight crown, and that was it? The number of boxing associations now looks like the Defense Department what with all the acronyms.
