Matrix: Revolutions Trailer is up

Just don't expect it, in fact expect something on a level with the first two, which is exactly what I think we'll get.
I stopped expecting great things from feature films years ago (surprises are always welcome). What I expect is some action, kewl explosions and some pseduo-philosophy that will hopefully be as or close as entertaining as the first film. That's it. Not much, really. :)

So am I the only one that somewhat liked Reloaded? Just honestly curious, because everyone seems so venomous toward the movie. I mean, I hardly see anyone on the net who says, "It wasn't as good as the first, but I still enjoyed it". I definitely missed the permeation of philosophy that was in the first one, and I really wish they had carried that idea, but I don't damn the movie for not having it.

I loved it! Everyone I have met in real life seemed to really enjoy it. I think the internet is just a magnet for negativity.

On another note, my wife and I sat back and watched every episode of Starwars to date a few weeks ago. I'm convinced that Episodes 1 & 2 were no worse than the originals.

I say this because my wife had never seen the series before. She didn't have the boat loads of nostalgia that the rest of us carry around, and she actually laughed out loud at how terrible the acting was in some places. After I took a long detached look at it, she was right. The acting and dialog was horrible throughout most of the trilogy. No better than Episode 1 or 2.

We are simply blinded by our nostalgia. Now that we are older we can see the errors in the new stuff, but remain blind to the errors of the past movies.

Lucas has changed nothing. He has continued making movies with the same quality he always has. It is simply our perceptions that have changed as we have matured. Find a kid who is the same age as you where when you first saw Starwars. Set the kid down and let him watch Episode 1 and 2 and see if he mentions anything about bad acting or problems with the storyline.

I am, I did, and I didn't.*

*I am someone who didn't see the Original Trilogy before the new ones (and still haven't fully; something always interrupts me), I did watch them, and I didn't mention anything, other than the different casting I'd have done for Anakin (in both, although Hayden Christensen was a little better [in accordance with their respective characters] than the other one.).

And take that same kid in 20 years, and ask him about Episode 1 & 2. He'll say he LOVES them, they were a huge part of his childhood, etc... You're right.

Episode 1 & 2 were fine movies. I'll defend them till the day I die.

I'm just glad there's non one here going:

à la Comic-book Guy from The Simpsons

Worst Episode EVER!

I loved Episode 1 and 2 when I first saw them, the raving fanboy in me absolutely adored everything about them. Then, I watched them both a second and a third time. Episode 1 got subsequently worse with every viewing, Jar Jar's presence, Anakin's godawful acting, the Gungans in general, and some stupid plot holes (mostly fixed, but some remain). Sure, the originals aren't perfect, Luke's acting in Episode 4 makes me cringe every once in a while, but NOTHING is as bad as Anakin's godawful line delivery. I just can't take it.

Episode 2, I like. It's not perfect, the acting isn't the best and some parts are a bit boring, but I still like it. If only just to see Jango Fett kick some Jedi butt. :)

Sorry for increasing the tangent, so...

Correction, you are blinded by your nostalgia. When I saw Return of the Jedi as a kid I thought it was the best SW film I'd yet seen. Now that I'm older I consider it the least of the original three.

So much for the "nostalgia" theory. The prequels aren't remotely close to the originals, even ROTJ. The acting might not have been great in the first films either, though there are some standouts (Hamill's performance in ESB for one), but they had one thing sorely lacking with the new actors: CHEMISTRY.

AOTC was definitely entertaining, but the same magic just isn't there.
