Matrix: Revolutions Trailer is up

So am I the only one that somewhat liked Reloaded? Just honestly curious, because everyone seems so venomous toward the movie. I mean, I hardly see anyone on the net who says, "It wasn't as good as the first, but I still enjoyed it". I definitely missed the permeation of philosophy that was in the first one, and I really wish they had carried that idea, but I don't damn the movie for not having it.

I wouldn't say I'm shooting venom at it. :) I just simply wasn't that entertained. I didn't think it was a terrible film and there were parts in it that I enjoyed. Actually, I recall giving it something like a 7 out of 10 soon after seeing it. My opinion of it is still about the same but maybe lessened a bit. Of course, I didn't love the first film (I loved the first 2/3 of the original - just about hated the rest) so being that the second movie was a lesser film you can see where I'm coming from.

And there are plenty of folks in both camps. I know lots of people around here that liked it and I can say the same for those who didn't and the same goes for real life friends and associates.

I was looking forward to Reloaded very much (check back through the threads, you'll see :) ). I wasn't expecting it to surpass the first film and I was fully ready to switch off my brain and just go for the pretty explosions and action scenes and they just about all, with a few exceptions, left me flat. I was not routing for the movie to be bad - that is unthinkable, I wanted it to rock - it did not. It's simply an opinion. So now I turn to the next movie to be very entertaining and kick the ass that the 2nd didn't.

Personally I enjoyed Reloaded alot and so did the group of 5 people I saw it with. So did most of the people coming out of the theater from what I could hear.

As did I, and my brother liked it as well.

The only problem I have with it is the dance scene, which conveniently I will be able to easily skip once I get the DVD.

LightPhoenix keep in mind what the Offspring told us, it’s cool to hate.

This movie will rule for one reason alone:

Giant Robot Battles!

Well, the Wachowskis are influenced heavily by anime. Let's just hope that those robots aren't piloted by fourteen-year-old kids wearing cat suits. :D

On to another subject that's been discussed here. I've noticed that too much hype can definatly cause a movie to disappoint those who are looking forward to it the most. I know several people who were expecting Star Wars Episode I to be the greatest movie ever made, and because it fell short of their impossibly-high expectations, they act as though George Lucas ran over their dog, burned down their houses, and slept with their girlfriend (that is, if they had girlfriends) all in the same week. George Lucas is the epitome of evil in their eyes, never mind the fact that their beloved Star Wars franchise would never exist in the first place if it weren't for him.

Too true. ;)

Again, very true - I get why folks are mad but I just don't feel the same way. I never felt that way about The Phantom Menace. I actually thought it was great. Just wanted to throw that in there... :)

George Lucas: Pimp with a Thousand Faces.

I know exactly what you guys are talking about. I think the key, if you are one who is inclined to check hype sites like AICN or watch hype shows like ET or Access Hollywood, is to weed the facts from the hype. If they say "Neo fights 100 Smiths," you can think, sounds nifty. But if they say "Neo fights 100 Smiths, and it'll make you forget about every fight you've ever seen!!!!1!1!!" that's when you've gotta turn your BS detector on. You can't let other people set your expectations for you.

I walked into Reloaded armed with exactly two facts: There would be a huge fight with multiple Smiths that would be awesome, if a bit gratuitous (right on both counts), and there would be a world-class car chase (it was, and my family helped make it happen! That's the only reason I knew about it a year ahead of time). Ignoring the hype and walking in with facts rather than opinions equaled zero disappointment.

I wish I could have enjoyed the movie as much as you seemed to. I went in only knowing what I saw from the trailers and that there was a trailer for Revolutions after the credits. The movie still dissappointed me. It was the action scenes that just didn't impress me that much. I liked the highway chase but it didn't blow me away. My favorite parts were the non-action, non-Zion sequences...
