I was just watching Matrix: Reloaded again and couldn't stop myself from thinking stunning fist! flurry of blows! grapple! power attack! concealment! ...
I'm aware, that there are several systems modelling the Matrix setting as an RPG, but which of them would you recommend? How would you do it?
Being here I'm obviously biased towards D20, but while the combat parts may be quite well usable the special powers of matrix influence is IMO somewhat beyond the system of spells and powers as per D20.
I'm also partial towards Shadowrun for the skill system and firearm rules, but I'd have to take a closer look at the close combat section. The magic stuff could work partly as per SR, partly as skill stuff - the physical adept would be the in-matrix class for martial arts crazyness ... SR might be a little too deadly for the over-the-top Matrix feel ... otoh one wouldn't start playing Morpheus, etc (ie the equivalent of DnD epic levels), so ... mmhh ...
I've only heard a little of Feng Shui, but from this I think, it might be appropriate. Open-ended rolls and improvisation as part of the system coupled with cinematicness (if there's such a word) as basic premise ...
