Maximum Perform?

I think the Choker of Eloquence might have been the one someone was thinking of from complete adventurer (and before that arms and equipment). The Choker of Eloquence gives +10 to Diplomacy, bluff and Perform (Sing).

So, to compile:

High cha., plus whatever enhancement bonuses can be scraped together, plus:

-skill focus: perform +3
-Artist +2
-versatile performer +2
-circlet of persuasion +3
-choker of eloquence +5 (+10)
-song blade +2
-MW pitchpipe (+2) -- this would be DM's discretion. Not sure how to get MW instrument bonuses for Perform (sing).

So that's skill rank 11 (at 8th level) + cha (let's say 5) + 24 = D20 + 40 damage for the Thunderstrike. It's not fabulous, but not terrible either.

The spells listed above haven't really survived into 3.5 in useable form, I think.

Any other thoughts?

found it...

Improvisation(S&S p92)
<Trans, VSM(dice), 1StdAct, Personal, 1rnd/lvl>
– The caster receives Luck bonuses equal to 2
times Caster level for use on attack rolls,
skill, & ability checks. More than one bonus
can be used on a given check, but they must
be designated before the roll. Each bonus is
usable once and all left-overs disappear at the
end of the spell’s duration.

I found it..... a summary of the spell...

the new version of Improv is Complete Adventurer, p. 152. It's Bard 5, gives luck bonus equal to twice the caster level; you can only spend one half your caster level worth of points on any given roll.

cheers,

Carpe

Another +2

Look at the bloodlines from UA. Some of them (fey, for example, and some of the dragons) give a +2 bonus to perform checks...and bloodline levels still count towards your max skill ranks.
