[May] What are you reading?

As usual I'm reading through a lot of books. House of Leaves was very different and unconventional and one of those books that is artistically written but I'm not sure I liked it though the quality is there.

I've been reading a lot of Zombie fiction like Plague of the Dead, Allison Hewitt is Trapped, Flip this Zombie, and Day by Day Armageddon.

How do you like it? I've had it saved-for-later on Amazon for ages.

Just finished it last night. It was a fun read, and I will probably be picking up the others in the series. If you love old pulps, you should enjoy it, as there is a lot of pulp reference in the work. The plot is good, the overall read satisfying. It very much reads like it could take place in an RPG world.

Overall, I give it 7 out of 10, which is a reasonably good score for me.

(Just started The Book of the Living Dead, a short story collection.)

@Raven Crowking

Thanks for the review! I do like the old pulps, though I came to them only (somewhat) recently. John Carter of Mars was something of a revelation.

In other news...

... instead of making headway through my backlog of books, which includes everything from Bleak House to China Mieville's new SF novel, I bought more books.

I'm 100 pages in Daniel Abraham's [ame="http://www.amazon.com/The-Dragons-Path-ebook/dp/B0047Y16LC/ref=tmm_kin_title_0?ie=UTF8&m=AG56TWVU5XWC2&qid=1306335135&sr=8-1"]The Dragon's Path[/ame]. On the one hand, it's a deliberately very conventional fantasy epic, with shades of The Song of Ice and Fire, a little Glen Cook, a dash of Brust, and a focus on economics (the plucky orphan character is the ward of a bank). On the other hand, it's very well done, and the pace's been great, so far (kinda like Game of Thrones.

If you get the Kindle edition, Amazon throws in an ARC of Abraham's upcoming SF novel, Leviathan Wakes/u].

I read Name of the Wind a few days ago and The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. The latter is nonfiction, and very, very interesting. I'm thinking about reading Collapse by Diamond and then picking up Dust of Dreams again so I can finally read the last of the Malazan story.

Hi Krug,
I have finished Girl on fire but didn't like the book. I read because my friend recommends me.
Thanks for referring the wise man's fear. I hope it will be a nice read.
