[May] What are you reading?

Almost done with Li Yiyun's Gold Boy, Emerald Girl. Great collection of short stories; one left me shaken.

More short stories with [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Swords-Dark-Magic-Sword-Sorcery/dp/0061723819/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1305867906&sr=8-1]Swords and Dark Magic[/ame]; read a story by Joe Abrecombrie so far. Not bad.

Also rereading A Game of Thrones to keep pace with the TV series.

How do you like it? I've had it saved-for-later on Amazon for ages.

It's interesting. I'm only 96 pages in right now, but I have noticed a lot of nods to classic pulp lit (and I include Dickens in that!). The world would make an interesting backdrop for a role-playing game. The story is still in the very early stages, it seems to me, but there are a lot of characters to assemble into an expedition (which has just gotten underway).

I'll give you a final grade when I've finished it.

Best Served Cold, by the previously mentioned Abercrombie. I'm hoping it's less annoyingly predictable than I found his trilogy.

Two-thirds of the way through The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie. Really enjoying it, although I really didn't get a feel for the book for the first few chapters.
