James Clavell's Tai-Pan.

Once I'm done with that, I'll continue my process of reading up on the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen... the classics, that is. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Dracula, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Picture of Dorian Gray... I worked my way through King Solomon's Mines and The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde a while back, and have yet to find a copy of H.G. Wells' The Invisible Man.

a good resource for finding hard to find books is Bibliofind.com, although now that I check the link (its been a while) they've combined with amazon.com. Oh well, you can always check their.

Under the books section they do have used, collectable, etc etc. They do have copies of The Invisible Man.

Other than that, you can always take advantage of the inter-library-loan system.

Currently reading the Moss Roberts translation of Three Kingdoms.

Woohoo! I'm reading Three Kingdoms too, that exact translation no less. I'm currently in the latter section of Book One and the Sun Ce - Yu Ji deal.

Have Gallows Thief by Bernard Cornwell lined up for after that, but somehow I don't think I'll get to that for a while.

I just finished up the entire Velgarth series again (That's Lackey's books set in the same world as Valdemar... But not all of them take place in Valdemar, so I call it the Velgarth series, after the world), and I'm just starting her "Joust" book that just came out.

Has she stopped doing one-book character pieces and gone back to writing Trilogies? I've found I really like the Velgarth books that come in groups, but those that go alone are hit and miss. Brightly Burning really touched me, but the book about Skiff I couldn't get finished. Kero's book was ok, but I can't work up the interest to buy the one about Albereich (Is that who Exile's Honor is about? I assumed as much but never checked).

I loved his first trilogy. Really captured the spirit of the Star Wars,
but I got sick of Star Wars book for a while after reading too
many Kevin J Anderson book in a row (Ick! I can't stand him).

That's funny, I liked KJA's stuff.

Anyhooy, I'm just skipping the Corellian trilogy, reading the Zahn
dulogy and then go straight into the NJO series.

If you put it off much longer it will end before you even start!

Suddenly feel compelled to post in this thread ... so many books, so little time.

Twelfth Night by Shakespeare (well memorising more than reading ... why does the idea of being in an amateur dramatic seem so much more romantic than the reality?)

Song of Ice and Fire Trilogy by George Martin (up to book 3 seriously addicted)

Magician (the revised version) by Feist ... dipping into it every so often to see what has been added from the original.

Exile's Honor is still the most recent Velgarth book... Joust is another series alltogether. It's not bad, thus far.

You I'm torn with Exile's Honor... On one hand, Albereich is one of my favorite characters from her books, and Karse fascinates me, ever since I read the Mage Storm series... But on the other hand, it was too short, and felt rushed. Had it been done as a trillogy, even of shorter books like the Heralds of Valdemar trillogy, it would have been better... As it is, it felt too rushed...

Take a Theif wasn't too bad at least the first half of it... and I actualy really liked the Kero book (By the Sword, was it?), and like you, I liked Brightly Burning...

But overall, I, too, wish she would go back to the trillogy format...

I really, really, really want her to write a trillogy about the founding of Valdemar... We have heard snippets of the story so often, I really want to hear more. And a book (even if it's only a single one) set in Iftel after the Mage Storms might be cool.
