Mayfair "Role Aids" products: Favorites? Conversions?

I was using the term "memorable" to refer to my play experience. I'd be surprised if you remember that...

Did you, in fact, run it? Suffice it to say, I get that you didn't like it. My perception is different, no need to try to mock me for liking something you did not.

I understand that.

Run it? No, I have not. I got Elves a year or two ago in a lot of Dragon, Dungeon, and 1e adventures and several other random things like these books, all for $35.

You liked it. I don't. Let's agree to disagree.

Anyone do a review of any of the following? (possible conversion to 3.5?)

Lichlords (yah, there's a bit above, but I'm interested in its originality)
To Hell and Back (setting book, but is it just the same ol stuff on these places?)
Monsters of Myth and Legend 1 and 2
Apocalypse
Psionics (looking to mine for ideas, but not if its stuff pretty much already done currently.)

I got the Demons set a few months back, but it was less...deep than I was expecting. (not so much detail at all on individual demons. Artwork ranged from poor to good.)

Lichlords (yah, there's a bit above, but I'm interested in its originality)

Lichlords, as mentioned, was one of my favorite adventures to run. It was basically written as the standard "sequence of potential encounters" wilderness adventure followed by a site based adventure once they enter the Lich's city.

Though some of the encounters were interesting on their own, the most unique aspect of the adventure (especially for the time) was that it was a timetable adventure (the liches gained a lot of power if you took more than 15 days getting to them) and that the liches had rivalries ripe for exploiting. The liches each had writeups on conditions that they would help the party, what form the help would take, and when the players need not apply for help, depending on which lich the party was opposing.

Psionics (looking to mine for ideas, but not if its stuff pretty much already done currently.)

This was interesting, but I don't think it offers much that the current psionics system don't give you. It had a point based psionics system. The most that can be said about it is that it provides a variety of specialized psionic classes (each class could pretty much only do powers related to its abilities--the abilities were very spell like) Unless you want to play using 1e/2e, if you want psionicists to be more specialized, you'll have an easier time buying Dreamscarred Press' Untapped Potential.

There were many sourcebooks that I enjoyed in that old line.

Psionics was an interesting grab bag of assorted powers and themes. It was nice seeing the Derynai again after their older Dragon mag apperance.

CSIO: I wasn't too crazy about what they did with the setting, but I did enjoy the new classes. Some interesting paladin variants in there.

Dragons: Nice little mini-campaign but once again, I enjoyed the class. This old style class was one of the first that I remember getting it's own magic weapon that increased as the user did. The unique abilities of the dragons were pretty neat also.

Elves: I think it was this book that provided some weird magical rings that you could find. Some interesting bits of history here and there.

Lich Lords: Been a while and I may be thinking of the wrong book, but isn't this one with a giant lich among others in it? If so, good stuff.

Undead: Ah, one of my favorite sourcebooks. Lots of undead goodness in it. I loved that short sword that exploded in rays of positive energy.

Demons: Enjoyed the whole line and Infernus as another 'hell'/abyss style place.

The Mayfair CSIO and the 'real' CSIO have little to nothing in common so if you enjoy the real old stuff, I'd skip the mayfair treatment unless you want some interesting 1st/2nd ed game mechanics.

Centaurs and Nagas as players? Crazy talk I tell you! :p

Hmm. have to go back to my storage locker, because I thought they were in Witches which is the only Role Aids book that I still own. However, it is possible that I am mistaken as I might have owned Psionics at one time.

I may be the one with the senility!

I liked witches too as that was another grab bag. I enjoyed the elemental aspects that were found in there and matched them up to FR quite nicely.
