Legend
First up Moloch vs. Siblex (and her pet wretches).

I really like the Siblex, it adds some great body horror to the demons. The wretch gross, but in a cute way.

Everyone seemed to have a lot of fun.

Things had to be tilted in the Siblrex's favour because Moloch is CR 21 (Legendary) and the Siblrex (not sure how it's spelled) is only CR 18.

I must say, this is a very interesting way to preview the monsters.

I like it a lot personally. Helps show off the abilities and how they work. Plus it's just good old fashioned silly fun, and that's always a plus.

The only drawback, as was pointed out in the chat during today's episode, is that legendary/lair actions are not allowed in these battles, probably because they are doing the battles in a neutral-site arena, so we do not get to see any of them in action.

I'm wondering if all of the featured creatures will be around CR 20 like today, or will we see a group of a lower CR creature representing a single foe to take on a single high CR foe? Or will they feature the lower CR creatures like they did today by using them to even out encounters?

Speaking of which, I wonder what is the CR for the wretched? Somewhere in the 3 - 5 range I'm guessing?

The wretched in the fight only had 10 HP each, but I do not remember what they could do, so not sure of their CR.

As for the rest of the weekly fights, and since no one else has linked to the actual WotC page about this, here is the link to the info:

http://dnd.wizards.com/articles/features/mordenkainen’s-mayhem

It does not mention how powerful the monsters will be for each fight, but it does say this:

"We’ve selected eight roughly balanced creatures from the pages of Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes, and members of the D&D team will each run one of these creatures. We’ll livestream these battles to the death, with the victor progressing on to the next round. We’ll be presenting one competition per week, until an ultimate champion is crowned after seven weeks."

Well the Sibriex are CR 18 while Moloch was 21.

The inclusion of the wretched as CR fodder was quite clever.

In addition to quickly becoming the fan favorite of the match, they really stressed the system, showing how even low CR monsters could be legitimate threats at high levels.

I think Emi may (Not 100% sure.) may have made a mistake with the Sibriax. Namely I think she may have mixed up the immunity with the resistance groups.

Not to nitpick, but this thread will be easier to find if you call it "Mordenkainen's Mayhem", gyor.
