Mead?

I think it's the best that way too. :)

But then again I've been drinking spiced (and un-spiced) ciders for the last 3 months strait.
Once you get hooked it's all over. :)

Ciders for me too, lately. My wife got a variety of mulling spices for part a present from a grateful patient - a wonderful gift, indeed :)

i am a chef and one of my fellow chefs at work is a brewer of some ten years experience. and he recently brought in some mead he had brewed.

it was great! i have never had it before. but i loved it. it was crisp, sweet, and not at all heavy. it was a wonderful honey flavored yellowish beverage.

i cannot wait for that particualr batch to completely mature so that i can get my players truly drunken and then send their characters into battle. all manners of fun could come of that!

Fiery Mead

It's funny to see this thread because I had to research honey mead and its makings for the next Fiery Dragon release "Beyond All Reason". I have yet to try it but now I know I HAVE to try it.

Cheers!

Oh and be cautious, it will make you drunk considerably faster than wine. (The amount of sugar, even when it's taste is hidden , will deshydrate you, diminishing your tolerance to alcohol. On top of that some mead are 30 or more proof)

I can certainly tell you Cider can sneak up on you so I'm not surprised Mead can. My first ever hang over was from Cider...not a pretty thing at all.

Good point, Chaucer's is around 20ish. (which isn't too too high)
But as far as wines go, there are some late harvest Zinfandels that get up into 30s, fortifieds can get into the 40s.

LOL! I can only imagine.
It's all that wacky suger, it's medievil hard boos, much stronger then ale would have ever been, that's why it made so many people happy. :)

BTW If you didn't know the "Honeymoon" term is from Mead.

Now look what you did, I had to go find the bottle.
It's made by "Chaucer's".
You can drink it chilled, or warm with spices (Yummy).
(it comes will some mullings spice if you want to use it.)
It's good by itself or with dessert or with fruit or salad or maybe some chicken.
Have fun. :)

YMMV I guess
I've had the Chaucers and I was unimpressed to say the least. If you care to try it it can be had a a liquor store usually.

Tried mead for the first time a few weeks ago at a friend's place. I'm not a drinker usually, but it was very nice. Smooth but not too sweet. Unfortunately ppl are used to having me for designated driver so I couldn't have more than a sip or two.

What's Lambic?
