Good luck, we have always gotten our pets from shelters. Just make sure you are careful with him and kids. Our last dog was not agressive with us at all, but a year after we got him he went after my little nephews. No one was really hurt, but we had to put him down (3 issues in one weekend) :(

Supposedly he's great around kids. but thanks for the warning.

I'm sorry to hear that you lost your dog. I had to put mine down a few years ago, and it was one of the most difficult and painful things I've ever had to do.

Congrats on Timber. He looks like a fine companion. :D

Arget, you're an awesome person for taking in a homeless pet. My hat (if I wore one) is off to you.

Me? I own 8, and 2 of my previous ones were former kennel "breeders" slated to be put down before my wife and I took them in. However, ever since I owned Pekingeses (2 of them), I've unfortunately become a Peke snob. They are freaking smartest dogs I've ever seen, and when my little ones pass on, that's all I think I'll ever own after then. :)

I hope Timber is healthy, and happy!

I do wear a hat, and it is off to you. Shelter pets are great, and it just feels nice to save one of the poor guys. I've got to hurry up and get my own place, so that I can own pets )they won't allow them in the dorms).
