Meeting EnWorlders at GenCon - Good or Bad?

I've had nothing but fantastic experiences meeting the EN World crowd. All of them have been pleasant to converse with at the very least and many have become solid friends. One even games with me on a regular basis, although she swears I am out to kill her character. >;)

So far, so good. Every ENWorld denizen I've met* has been pretty cool. If there were any jerks, they were such minor jerks that I've forgotten about them.

In particular, War Golem, Simmo, Ashy, Buttercup, and others that aren't dawning on me right now have all been very nice people. I'm looking forward to gaming with Cthulhu's Librarian, TB, Buttercup, and others this year.

*by met, I mean more than:
Me: "Hi! I'm Francisca."
So and So: "I'm so and so, nice to meet you."
Me: "Bye"
So and So: "Bye"

same here, and same with the NTLers i've met as well.

I guess I dont post enough here to be a known figure or to know anyone. i will make more of an effort this year to meet some fellow enworlders. I would like someone to go have a beer with.

It's been a very positive experience to meet fellow ENWorlders at genCon and the various Game Days. There is only 1 that I can say I really disliked, and he only posted for a short time before GenCon then disappeared and hasn't been on the boards since.

I've met several people that I consider friends, and would be better friends if they lived closer. I've made an effort to go to game days so I could game with new people, and every time I have come away thinking "Man, this is so cool!"

Hanging with people at the ENWorld booth is one of the best ways to meet and get to know people. Sure, there are a few that you just breeze by in the hall and say hello to as you are running to your next game (Fusangite), but there are others that you go to dinner with, game with, split driving and hotel costs with (Nakia, Rel, der_kluge),and go out for late night partying (Teflon Billy, Hand of Evil, Hellhound, Jester47). I've met enough people now that I can say hello to people all over the con-in the gaming halls, on the dealers floor, at publishers booths, in the bars and restaurants, and so on.

the best thing about meeting fellow ENWorlders is the sense of familiarity. Even though you don't know these people in person, having a common connection makes the convention more personal. It's good to have people to stop at chat with after a long day of gaming and shopping with 40,000+ strangers.

Sorry if I didn't name people I should of in this post, there are so many of you that I have met, I couldn't put everyone in the post!

Whendo you want to go? Shouldn't be to hard to get a few people together to go for beer.

What day will you be getting into town? A bunch of us are getting together Wednesday night for low key, laid back board & card games so we can just chill after a long day of travel, kick back a few beers, and get to know new people.

I get in wed afternoon, I am up for anything. I have volunteered to run a Conan game that night but something tells me I will have enough games without that one. I am at the Best western hotel. Let me know when and where and I will be there.

Never met an Enworlder that I didn't like. However I have had a problem with people confusing me and Clueless for one another, both Enworld people and people that I met through Planewalker at Gencon.

Now meeting people from the WotC boards at Gencon, wow that's a different story :uhoh:

Well, then it shouldn't be too hard to find you, as that's where I'm staying as well. Others are there too: Rel (in my room), der_kluge, and a few more i can't recalloff the top of my head.

Cool. So we can figure out how to contact each other closer to august. Look forward to meeting you.

I have met dozens of ENWolrders and Nothinglanders and have only met two who weren't great people.

All in all I have met many, many, many I wished I lived closer to so that I could be around them more.
