Mega-Adventure Prologue--The Council and the Fellowship

Nura

with a friendly atitude she tries to explain "Rinya first off I do not like the man either but unless I have misunderstood something no one was suppose to know what this meeting was about. How likely do you think it is that the man represented as the spokesperson for Rivenblight turns out to be one of these cultists. To brand everyone who doesn’t agree this is the right thing as a cultist, is insane. It’s fair to warn but unneeded I hope, as all of us was at that meeting. The man opposes this, true, but does that make him an enemy?"
"I don't need hard proof before I help saving the world from an undead worm, but I need it before I start trashing an represent from a nation that we hope will support this."

ooc: I was about to point that out myself. Rinya is pretty tight with Richard and Lucien, I'd suggest moving Babette to another group.

Also, I thought the Nocturne shard was for the 1st Levels. Octavio is 3rd, shouldn't he be in a different group?
OOC

It's not that the Nocturne Shard is the level 1 adventure, it's that it's the adventure that level 1 characters can participate in. I'm certainly happy to have my level 2 character there.

The breakdown by shard appears to be:
Peregrine: 10th level
Terran: 7th-8th level
Tempest: 5th-7th level
Sylvan: 3rd-4th level
Undine: 2nd-3rd level
Nocturne: 1st-2nd level

How would you like to place your characters?

@KO: Oops, thought I had avoid Heckler character's Team up. I'll add Lily.

@Heckler: The problem with your 3 character, they are all 3rd level, so one will probably be in a group that is either too string or too weak for him. I prefer see one strong among the weak, so he can take a few more hits for the group than the opposite and see your character dying.

@Orsal: I choosed Nurlan as it is Rinaldo who has the responsability and want someone who he can trust. Anyway, Rinaldo is not from Orussus, so I find it fun to see that Rinaldo was the delegate.

Duncane, Eternity, Hulgyr, Micheal, Opale and Zack

Tempest
Almayce, Devlin, Nodis, Nurlan and Tor

Sylvan
Gur, Lucien, Richard, Rinya, Saithnar, Tablin, Tumna and Ximix

Nocturn
Droggle, Hasin, Jace, Jinx, Octavio, Quozen and Peladus

Heading for another quest
Ashmodai, Gaius, Lord Baldrian, Lily, Maladar[/SBLOCK]

Changes:
- Babette will go for Undine, so Heckler have only 1 character per adventure. Heckler, I had already thought to keep Rinya with Richard... and I thought Octavio and Quozen having met in teh Tournement, would go together too.
- Tumna will take Babette place for the Sylvan Shard
- Lily will head for another quest with the four other.
- Michael will go for teh Terran, giving some healing power to that group. The Tempest group will have Almayce.

[sblock=ooc]Rinaldo may not originally be from Orussus, but he makes his home there, and with his shop has at least become a part of the commercial life of the city. He's probably more entrenched in Orussus than 90% of the PCs. Nurlan, by contrast, occasionally stops by Orussus in his frequent travels.[/sblock]

(OOC: Another concern, and yes, sorry for the Radar slip-up, but in this case, the concern that the cultists will notice groups that are too large is going to be my in-game reason to motivate the following--6 adventurers per group, plus the representative, maximum (the meta reason is that adventures with more than six players in them always die horrible deaths due to posting problems). Seven is a magic number, and there are seven phylactery shards, so the theme fits in character too. Yes this will leave a lot of lowbies out of a group (that's why we have extra adventures for them). This means that there need to be two cuts from the Sylvan Shard (bump down to Undine if possible) then two cuts from Undine (you can bump down to Nocturne if possible) and then we're set. You can also do some subbing based on out-of-character volunteering. Frex, the two evil dwarves may fit better on Solange's sidequest involving pay and fighting than on the unpaid expedition for the phylactery shard. And yes, Nocturne having a Good-aligned Cleric is, well, a good idea obvious even from an in-game perspective of where you are going. Does anyone on the Undine team speak Aquan? If we had kept Notes on the Aether crew, I know they have someone who does, speaking of which that's where Fimble went, since I know someone mentioned him--he's become an NPC in the sequel.

Xanthar plans on naming Elektra the Medibarian representative, so that actually would allow Ironwolf to join that first group, though otherwise I had thought that the selection I made was fairly solid for group 1.

ooc: I thought Nocturne was a level 1 adventure, and I didn't want to be "stealing" a spot from one of the new guys. Velmont's updated placement works fine for me.

"I don't need hard proof before I help saving the world from an undead worm, but I need it before I start trashing an represent from a nation that we hope will support this."
"I think it is very likely that the cult has people in positions of power so that they may spy on events such as this. And I have not said that the man is definitely a cultist, but his behavior is suspicious and I would start investigating there. And perhaps you weren't listening when he said that he was going to try to actively stop us. That most definitely makes him an enemy.

And I'll tell you another thing. I sincerely hope he tries to stop me, for I will show him what a 'halfbreed' is capable of."

(OOC: My adventures always have a rather flexible level guideline. They're usually extremely challenging, though balanced, such that the upper end is flexible, and there's only a non-negotiable lower end of "If you are lower than X level, I think that you will die horribly no matter what you do". Due to his 6 Constitution Almayce counts as being less than his actual level when making that distinction (and in the adventure I ran last for Almayce, it came true--an enemy who was mainly aiming for the other two casters accidentally one-hit-killed Almayce with an AoE. The other casters weren't hurt very much), so it is good to see that he was not placed in the top two adventures (though he does have a +Con item now at least).

So for these, I would say--

Peregrine: 7+ at least, and if you want to contribute at 7, you should be a relatively Con-blessed character who is a caster or buffer and can thus stay in the back. I would say that a level 7 Wizard with Con 14 is okay here (16 is better of course), but Con 12 or below might be in danger. Level 9-10ish preferred.

Terran: 6+ at least (MAYBE 5 if the character is a Cleric with high Con who stays out of melee, but don't push it). Level 7-8ish preferred.

Tempest: 4+ at least, no exceptions, and level 4 character should probably be fairly resilient and not want to tank. Level 5-6 preferred

Sylvan: 3+ at least, but any 3 is good. Level 3-4 preferred

Undine: 2+ at least, but any 2 is good (1st-level characters banned here is a general rule, but if there's one with ridiculous HP and saves for 1st level, that could be okay on specific review, like a Monk with 16 Con and the feats Wild Talent and Psionic Body or something). Also there's a decent amount of RPing, which can be safish. Even so, level 2-3 definitely preferred

Nocturne: Anyone can come, but level 1-2 preferred because this is where we have space for them)

(OOC: Oh, and while compiling that list, I noticed that you were only sending 5 characters after the Tempest Shard--you could bump up 1 or 2 of the level 4s in Sylvan, instead of only bumping down as I suggested before (since Sylvan has 8 and all). Maybe Gur so they have a Ranger to help them with Survival through the desert?)

Quozen turns to Jace, Hasin, and Droggle. "Well, we've worked together in the past, should we continue to work together in this quest?"

(OOC: If this works, that's
Quozen, Elf Monk 2
Jace, Human Cleric 1
Hasin, Dwarf Ranger 1
Droggle, Dwarf Fighter 1

...and we could use a couple more.)

Better to travel with a friend then a stranger!
I will be your axe Quozan!
and I think you will find that Droogle would be your shield.
