Mega Block Dragons

For those of you interested in cheap minis, Mega Blocks is releasing a new dragon line (at least they are new to me). I just picked up a dragon slayer box from Walmart for $10 which contains a passable green dragon and a working (for kids) ballista.

The sets also come with some walls that may be used for scenery. Looking at the box, there are going to be some nice sets with this line scenery wise.

I saw a couple of these sets at the Wal-Mart the other day and seriously almost got them.

They had a few big sets (with 2 1/2'x1 1/2' boxes), like the large LEGO sets.

They didn't have a price tag or shelf tag, so I hesitated. Later, I saw them at KB Toys for around $29.99 for the large box set! Which was pointed out, had castle walls, ballista, dragon, knights, etc.

Wow! LEGO box sets that big go for $70-90.

Hmm, can't find a good link to show them to people, but they looked pretty good. I saw at least two different large sets, plus small set with a dragon, just knights, etc.

The "knights" that come with the sets could concievably be used for minis - they would take up one square. The Dragon however, would take up much more room. Eyeballing it - i would say 3 x 4 squares with the tail taking up more - Perfect for an old to ancient dragon.

My girlfriend wanted to get me something for my birthday, might have found it. However, old cheap tokens and dice work just as well...FFG(I think) has a set of tokens cheap and I actually have the first set, just keep forgetting them when we play

Gariig

I have used dice, pennies, tokens,e tc, but have found that nothing puts the fear into the players quite as much as plopping a large monster fig in front of their figures and saying, "its to scale."

For this purpose, small plastic animals (giant lizards, snakes, frogs, etc) work well, as do toy dragons :)

I ran to the store and picked up the "Dragon Slayer" after hearing them talked about here...

An hour later I went back and picked up 2 packs of extra men and the Wizard Gate set, and plan to get more whenever wal-mart gets more in stock.

These things are cool!

How big are the minifigs? Comparable in size to lego?
I know megablocks and lego are interchangeable, but what about the minifigs? :)
