Melee Defense and Armor.

Under the Defense section of OLD where it talks about equipment for melee and ranged defense, it mentions that "the quality of your [weapon], armor, or shield can be used", My understanding about armor and quality is that it just adds to the soak and doesn't do anything to any pools. Is that correct? If so, does that mean the quality of armor doesn't affect defenses or am I missing something?

Yeah, you’re right. Though your shield quality can affect the dice pool.
