Melee Weapon Mastery and Polearms

Consider a character who's specialised in a polearm. He's taken Focus, Specialisation, and Weapon Mastery (Piercing). If he were to take the feat that allows him to strike with the butt (Short Haft? Haft Grip?), could he then take Weapon Mastery (Bludgeoning)?

Adaptive Fighting? (it allows you to use the butt of a weapon).

I would say yes, of course. Can't see anything wrong with it.

The feat Spinning Halberd (Complete Warrior) lets you attack once with the butt of a halberd (damage = club) as part of a full attack.

If he were to take the feat that allows him to strike with the butt...
Haft Strike, Dragon 331, according to my feat index.

Anyway, I see no reason why not. You could do it with Slashing and Piercing with a Dwarven Ugrosh, after all.

I say yes, except that Short Haft does not let you do a bludgeoning attack. It is instead, that you choke up on the grip of your polearm so you threaten people at 5' reach with the sharp end.

Other feats would do this, though, and I say, if you are hitting them with a halberd, all halberd feats apply, whether you use the blade or the butt.

I'd say yes, but the two weapon masteries would obviously not stack...bludgeon would apply for the haft attacks and piercing for the tip attacks. Not both at one time.
