Merric's thoughts on "Against the Giants" (DDM)

What does the title 'Against the Giants' have to do with any of these minis, for that matter.
Well it does have more giants and titans than other sets.

In general a set's name doesn't really indicate a set's theme. How many desert creatures did you find in the 'Desert of Desolation' set?

That's why I'm actually positively surprised that the 'Demonweb' set indeed seems to have a large number of Drow and especially Mindflayer minis.

Am I the only one disappointed to find NO minis in this set that are Homage minis to the 'Against the Giants' classic module. I had been looking forward to this set assuming that there would be some such goodies. What does the title 'Against the Giants' have to do with any of these minis, for that matter.

Seemed to be a bunch of giant minis in there, and also creatures (like the Galeb Duhr) connected with giants.

4e really takes a Greek approach to giants - you've got titans and the like as the master giants, and then you have the Azer and Galeb Duhr who used to be dwarves until they were enslaved by various types of giants/titans (fire and earth in this case).

Cheers!

Slight thread hijack: I've just noticed that with the Against the Giants set, the total number of different pre-painted miniatures released by WotC has reached 1003.

They may very well be great minis, but it was a disappointment for me

King Snurre was in The First Large Set (Giants of Legend)...
