Messages to Gamers Stationed in Iraq

I'm hoping to gather messages from the roleplaying community back home to gamers who are on active military duty in Iraq through the Baghdad Hobby Club.

I know second-hand that there are many roleplayers in the armed forces, and that support from fellow gamers can mean a lot to them as they do difficult and often dangerous jobs. Brian Stith, one of my oldest and best friends, served with the 82nd Airborne during the Kosovo peacekeeping action. While he was overseas, we sent him RPG books for the campaign he organized as a welcome break from his daily routine, and got back letters planning the games we’d play when he returned. Each letter back and forth reminded us how strong the bonds we’ve formed through gaming have become.

We founded Behemoth3 to continue building those bonds and make gaming more central in our lives, and that's put us into a position to give something back to those who are now risking their lives to serve their country. While we're glad to be able to donate of copies of our Masters and Minions books, we know the best part of gaming is the social connections it creates. Getting free stuff is nice, but getting words of support and encouragement from fellow gamers is priceless. So, along with our shipment of books, we’ll be sending messages from ourselves—and, I hope, from you as well.

To include your message, email it to baghdad@behemoth3.com or post it here, and we'll print it out (with your screen name or, if you provide it, your real name) and include it in our shipment. If you’d like us to pass on a letter or package, send us an email and we’ll tell you where to send it (and hold our shipment until it arrives).

Thanks,
Tavis

How about, "Thank you, for everything that you have done, and for everything you have yet to do. I pray for the safety of each and every soldier serving our country, and am hopeful to hear of MANY, MANY gaming sessions when you all get home." :)

I'll reiterate here what I posted on RPG.Net before that thread got locked. Tavis, you might want to shoot Cessna or Patrick a PM and let them know that you're starting a new thread, this time hopefully without the...bias that crept in.

To all the soldiers, US and otherwise:
Come home safe, come home whole, come home soon. We miss you.

(And to this thread I'll add a link - http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org - for those interested in helping wounded US veterans out when they get back Stateside. Take a look and consider helping.)

I'm sorry piratecat are political posts now allowed on ENworld?
Because this is a political thread.. are you intending that the only messages allowed to be posted are happy cheery messages of hope and support that totally whitewash the fact that these soldiers are all commiting war crimes, by the very fact of their willfull participation in an illegal war of aggression, engineered by a corrupt political regime in Washington that is no longer concerned about even the appearance of legality when they go out to commit atrocities in the third world?

My only message to the US soldiers in Iraq is this: refuse to obey your orders. Right now. Don't shoot anyone, don't do anything to aid the US occupation. You are participating in an illegal war, and "just following orders" is not an acceptable excuse for violations of international law or the participation in crimes against humanity.

anyway, to the soldiers, this sounds like a cool thing. much as i'd hate the idea of being in the military, i've heard of all the gaming coolness that can ensue when you find a group of willing "recruits". :) where else are you going to be that you have just about nothing else to do with your free time but the military? ;)

While I have nothing against Americans supporting their troops, I have a lot against that happening on an otherwise non-political message board.
