Add a topbar??

  • Yes, and now please.

  • No, wait until users can turn it off. Once that's set up, make it the default for guests.

  • Only as an option that must be turned on by users who want it.

  • No, We don't need it at all.

Checked it out, as per PC's request, and I like it. Moving arround in it is a breeze. Or would be if the pages the menu linked to had the same menu system.
I assume that this would be present on all EN World pages.

My vote just went from a "Sure why not" to a "Heck yeah!"

Is it possible to use two different INDEX gateways on the messageboards??

I don't think any of the admins (including myself) even understand the question, let alone know the answer. :)

But if you're suggesting setting up another instance of vB (not UBB, btw), that's not an option. Far too big a job. Same goes for another instance of PostNuke.

I like the idea, although having it as an option would be good for those who didn't like it. I have seen many websites that have it and they are a breeze to navigate.

I think what he's asking (correct me if I'm wrong, Michael) is to set up two different yet identical home pages (the /index.html page that is default loaded when a browser trains on a web site folder without a specific page reference, such as www.enworld.org.) The first page used to always be a page called index.htm or index.html.

Yeah, the default page for the boards is index.php. I think the default page for the main site is also an index.php but in a different folder.

Things is... you can't have two index.phps in the same folder. The latter would overwrite the former.

More importantly, though, the index page of the boards (and of the main site) is dynamiically generated through use of an admin panel/templates system. You can't just edit the page "index.php" - there's nothing on it.

I don't particularly like drop-down menus on websites, but I respect the fact that others do appreciate them. I voted to make the option available but leave it off by default.

Ditto. No, I don't notice any additional load time really and I'm on a 56k connection at home, but I'm just not a big fan of these. Count me the same as haiiro here - I'm sure this took a lot of time and effort, but it should only be implemented if it has to be turned on by the individual user in their preferences.

So... why can't the people who don't like dropdown menus just...kinda...not...use it...? Why does it need to be switchable?
