MetaCreator

Does anyone use MetaCreator for a d20 game? I recently bought it for my BRP Call of Cthulhu game, and it's great!

Just wondering if the SRD version of MetaCreator was worth it.

Thoughts? Opinions? Likes? Gripes?

TIA

I've never tried it. What does the program do? I went to the website and still couldnt get a good gathering as to if it can fully generate a character or not?

I use DM Genie for my game and it has to be the most powerful program I've used out of the top three (roleplaying master and the campaign one

It can for Call of Cthulhu (generate a full character). But the demo version doesn't let you save the character info.

The full version does that, plus you can print out a lot of different forms (charater sheet, character sheet for web page, list of characters (brief--a CoC stat block), list of characters (long), etc.). Heck, all those options might be available in the demo version, for all I know. :)

I was hoping someone had some experience with the d20 module. I'll try posting on the MetaCreator yahoo list and see what they say. I just joined that list and wanted to lurk a few days before posting for the first time.

Metacreator Info

I'm the female half of the hubby-wife company Alter Ego Software, the developer of Metacreator. In answer to one of the questions, it DOES generate full characters for d20. We support the 3.0 and 3.5 rules, for fantasy, modern, psionic and epic characters. We support all the monsters in the SRD, which is hundreds. You can make any of them as advanceable characters. The software automatically applies the adjustments due to magic items, feats, etc.

The demo version is complete except you can't save characters and you can't customize data. In the production version, you have access to all of the data, which is stored in spreadsheet-like pages we call datasheets. You can copy and paste existing data and modify it as much as you want to create new data. Anything is editable, from races and classes to feats, items and monsters. Even the character sheet printout is modifiable. (But we offer a good selection of those too, including spellbooks.) If you have some unusual ideas for things you should go to our Yahoo discussion group for support on any problems figuring out how to implement it. The group is called cw (it dates back to when this software was sold as Creation Workshop).

If you have any specific questions, I'll be happy to answer them.
