How inferior can an inferior material get? In the DMG, it sais that inferior materials bestow a -2 penlaty to attack and damage.
But there are some problems with this. Obviously, a plastic sword would hurt much less than a bronze one. But with that DMG ruling, they're the same.
Iron, I think, is assumed to be the standard material for weapons in DnD. It has Hardness 10, and 30 hp per inch of thickness.
Does anyone know of an equation or something to tell weather a weapon has a particularly harsh penalty?
