Metamagic Spell Trigger

First Post
Metamagic Spell Trigger: Starting at 6th level, an artificer can apply a metamagic feat he knows to a spell effect from a spell trigger item he activates. Doing so drains extra charges from the item equal to the level increase that the metamagic feat normally imposes. If the spell trigger item does not have charges, this power does not work.

The artificer also must have the item creation feat corresponding to the item he is using (for example, craft wand to apply a metamagic feat to a spell effect from a wand).

One Question for that feat.
Can you only apply one Metamagic Feat at a time to a wand or more?
For example the Charachters has Metamagic Spell Trigger, maximize Spell and empower Spell.
Could he use both at the same time for the exapnse of 5 more charges?
Or lets the Feat only apply one Feat at the time?

Thanks

Unless stated, he can apply them similar to how a spontaneous caster would apply said feats. For instance, you can only apply each feat once per spell, and you can only quicken one thing a round (being a swift action).

Our party Artificer loves this ability, but burns a HECK of a lot of charges.

An Incantatirx gets the ability too.
Is there a limit to the feats besides you can each use only once?
Normaly you cant increase the spell through applying Feats over the highest Slot you can cast. Normally that means you cant increase the Spells only to ninth level.
But since you burn charges and dont increase the level woud it be possible to apply
empower spell ( +2 ), maximize spell ( +3 ) and transcendant spell ( +2 ) to wand of Lightnining for burning 7 extra charges?
With normal spellls it wouldnt work, but would it work with the Wand and the Spell Trigger?

Is there a limit to the Number different Metas one could stack at Wand using this ability?

Thanks

Khelvan.

I don't believe there is a limit besides the number of charges. But really this ability isnt too bad, because of the extra cost. Though I believe there is an infusion that grants temporary charges which can defray the cost a bit.

The one you have to look out for, and that makes artificiers really nasty is the metamatic item infusion. I think it's like a 3rd lvl infusion, you use it on an item to apply a metamagic feat you know to the item. Then for the next minute whenever you use the spell trigger item the metamagic feat is applied for free. I think the duration is a minute, can't remember for sure. The really broken feat with this is persistent spell. But also good is twin or repeat spell for blasting. Or chain spell for buffing.
