Microsoft Reveals North American Windows Vista Pricing

New Egg is one of the companies that sells OEM versions of windows almost at cost with a piece of $5 hardware (a molex splitter). That's still like $140 for XP Pro. This seems to be basically twice the price of XP. The prices are just insane.


I hope the start up sound for it is a cash register noise. Ka-ching.

The OEM stuff is significantly cheaper for XP, and it's not listed what Vistas OEM will be.

Retail for XP:
Home: $199
professional: $279

Seems Vista is right in line with current prices, which have been that way for quite a while.
