Midnight: Shadow of the Gods - Chapter 1

Armigil breathes slowly once the cat is gone, resheathing his sword as he straightens, and the he recovers his cloak and bow, eyes on the disappearing feline. With a brief glance at the rest of the party and an assurance that all is well, at least to what he can see, the Wildlander pads after the feline. If more orcs are to be hunted, surely this large cat could warn him...or lead the way.

Evarus is never one to let an opportunity to talk pass without taking advantage of it. When the Sarcosan speaks in Erenlander, the youth turns and replies, a little tartly, "I'd think the fact that we just dispatched a handful of orcs would answer that question for you." His words are quick, a little breathless, a consequence of his first real battle.

Masozi replaces the bow and comes up with a pair of odd-looking knives in her hands. While her companions make their greetings, such as they are, her dark eyes are focused on the downed, still-breathing Orc. Her fingers tighten around the handle of the blade and she takes a few steps towards the beast, eyes narrowed in anger, intent in finishing the job, leaving the pleasantries to others.

Chapter 1 - Scene 1.9

As Armigil moves to follow the cat, it looks over its shoulder once, lashing its tail, before again moving forward towards the outcropping. Its companion on the pile of rocks seems to be circling, keeping an eye in all directions, but is definitely less immediately aggressive than it was.

OOC Note: Armigil
[sblock]As you approach the pile of rocks, you hear a faint meowing sound, appearing to be muffled some by the rocks. If you had to guess, you'd say it came from under the rocks, probably from an opening on the opposite side. After a moment, you hear a second meow, probably a different one.

In the meantime, Evarus's comment has earned him the attention of both Sarcosans. The one who spoke earlier has a completely smooth face as he replies in Erenlander:

"And of course your mighty blow felled that one as it tried to run away from you. My apologies." His companion breaks in, speaking in the same language, "The Foul One's minions often fight amongst themselves, and even those who look trustworthy are not always what they seem."

At this, Eliael's voice is heard, and there's a very sharp edge to it. She's not yelling, but there's obviously strong emotion in her voice, replying in Erenlander:

"You don't need to tell us this. I... we are well aware of it." Her head turns to look at the Caransil who rode with them, "I assume that this one is here to confirm our motives? Feel free to read me. You'll learn that not only will I be happy when that Orc dying there is killed by our Southern sister, but that I would kill the Shadow myself if I were able."

OOC Note: Masozi
[sblock]You are easily able to walk up to the dying Orc and kill it in whichever way seems best to you.[/sblock]

In the darkness, Armigil pauses and listens more closely to the rock and the living creatures around it, then, slowly donning his cloak once more, he looks about for any further signs of danger.

In other words, he looks, smells, listens for any indication more orcs await their party.

Evarus is all ready to make a smart comment back to the Sarcosans when Eliael speaks. He clamps his mouth shut, his cheeks flush, and he defers to their nominal leader.

Masozi spares a brief glance for the others, pausing briefly at the sight of other elves. But the orc is still her focus as she stalks foward, lips pulled back into a snarl. When she's close enough she reaches out and slashes at the creature with the odd blades in her hands, caring not if the creature's blood gets on her. She doesn't simply give it one cut, but does so multiple times, wanting it dead.

Chapter 1 - Scene 2.0

Armigil doesn't spot any obvious signs of other orcs, and the cats on the rock tolerate the Dorn's presence even if they remain watchful. One disappears into a crevice within the outcropping, and the sounds within the rock pile halt.

The Caransil that arrived with the Sarcosans and Danisil makes a quick motion with his hands while looking at Eliael, and nods once to his companions before saying to Eliael:

"You have talked to Rhiann? If so, this one..." and he nods towards Masozi, "has more information that needs to be passed on to Sethin. The Queen asks that she be under what protection you can provide on her journey. We.." and here he motions to the Sarcosans, "will be departing immediately. I am to meet with their leaders on another matter."

Eliael simply nods and then glances around, "We should depart ourselves. These orcs are obviously scouts for a larger group. Given they're orcs and not goblins, I'd say a rather large group, probably in the mountains to our east, but I don't advise hanging around to find out. Let's dispose of them properly so that they don't harass us a second time." The elves nearest to the bodies immediately set to decapitating them.

OOC Note: The Fell - In case it's been forgotten due to the long layoff (and I think I left out this element of the world for Masozi), one of the dangers of the campaign world is that some of the dead have begun rising again as creatures that need to feed on the flesh of the living. These are known as 'The Fell' collectively, and most cultures have their own methods of dealing with their dead to prevent their being corrupted into such creatures. The 'resurrection' doesn't usually happen for at least a few hours to days.

Eliael makes her way over towards Masozi, the white skinned Erunsil contrasting with the dark skinned Danisil. Along the way she motions towards Evarus, Armigil, Danyd and Arunae. Once the group is gathered, she says in Erenlander, "We should split up now. I had intended to do so a few miles further to the south when we cross a stream, but with orcs nearby, smaller groups are probably better. I talked to the rest... Keelosh, Morthik and Gac, and they preferred to join us as we visit the halfling camp. We will provide horses, hearthstones and rations enough for your trip to meet the resistance member that Danyd and Masozi both have information for. The town where this man, Sethin, lives is occupied by The Shadow, but the orc presence itself is minimal. He lives on the outskirts and doesn't get much attention by the orcs because they like the ale he makes too much. Arunae knows the way and will guide you. Do you have any questions?"

Questions? No. Armigil has shown himself to be a man of few words, and, hands wrapped stoically around his bow, body shrouded in shadows and the voluminous cloak he seems to prefer save in combat, he gives his head a silent shake in response to the invitation for question and then looks once, inquiringly, at Evarus. The other Dorn gets a quick once-over for injuries, then the impassive stare resumes.
