I just watched Fellowship of the Ring on DVD (mmm ... extended scenes ... ) and got inspired to make up a halfling character. I give you Ms. Molly Greenbottle, 1st level Commoner, 2nd level Fighter.

Molly Greenbottle is the daughter of a fairly wealthy tavernkeep on the border between the halfling lands and those of the Men. She grew up working in her father's inn waiting on and cooking for the patrons. Molly is a fine cook, and spends as much time making her entrees perfect as does a wizard crafting a fine magic item. She is high-spirited and fiesty, a rare trait for a halfling, and quick with a laugh or a song. Molly was considered quite a catch among the young halfling men. The fiesty young barmaid soon came to be quite a terror with a frying pan keeping those same young men at bay. Despite the unwanted suitors, life is good for the young Ms. Greenbottle, and she has no intention of leaving the inn.

It's not every day that you see an NPC that is proficient in fighting with a frying pan! LOL

I thought that was an interesting touch and gave her a little personality.
