I don't understand. What does it mean to shout hands on?

Well, imagine you had for some reason gotten your hands chopped off. Now a Dragonborn may wander past and fry them with acid or fire or whatever but they would not try and shout them back onto your arms.

It is a warlord thing--more specifically a criticism of martial healing. If a PC's hand was cut off, it makes sense for magic (or psychics I guess) to reattach it, but less so if a warlord talked the hand back on; in other words, if hit point damage is mostly physical damage then motivational speaking based healing doesn't make much sense, but if hp damage is mostly endurance/psychological damage, it does. I have always thought that criticism would carry more weight if PC's hands getting cut off happened more often, but that seems pretty rare in 5e.

What is this silly shouting things on other things thing have to do with a campaign setting?

Well when you mentioned at least not having Dragonborn I presumed you were talking about not having to use the 4e version of the Forgotten Realms.

And if that is the case then I got 100 problems with the 4e Forgotten Realms debacle but Dragonborn (as a race) aint one.

I see you wouldn't have to deal with shouting hands back on either. However that is a thing. 1e FR seems like a good setting. Less crufty. And you can use the 5e rules if you want.

If I am using 1e FR as a setting then why not just use the 1e rules to save on having to convert anything? I can even play the latest adventure Tomb of Horrors without having to convert it too!
