Eegad man, is there any D&D staple he doesn't want to tweak?

I wonder how big the revolt will be when he tries to touch dragons.

As the historical record indicates every designer under the sun tweaks dragons when given the slimmest excuse, I am not sure in what fashion Mearls would be uniquely unqualified to do the same.

The bottom line is there is no way to do dragons that will truly satisfy more than 49% the D&D community in a 6-12 page section in a Monster Manual. It is too emotionally big a topic. There are at least several distinct approaches, each of which could justify its own book.

As a practical matter, we do need a painfully slim treatment for inclusion in the Core books. IMNSHO the 3.5 treatment is overall the best written so far, even if it has its flaws.

Flumph already got updated in Dungeon #118 ... an awesome little adventure called (appropirately enough) "Box of Flumph".

Personally, I'm hoping for the Flail Snail.
