D&D General Mike Mearls sits down with Ben from Questing Beast

yes, that one is you, I have watched the video ;)
Why would i watch that video? I don't care about the topic at all.
It's like how music artists trash each other. Who cares?
Make stuff and let that stuff stand on its own. When you bad mouth other peoples art, that tells me that you don't really value your own that much.
I read these threads mostly to see how far off topic things get.
Were like 100 posts in and the topic hasn't changed to stealth or why bards (and rangers frankly) are a ridiculous class yet.
Frankly, were slipping.

Of course, we have on the other hand, the fact that Youtube Creators are the ones who are making their own thumbnails, and thus don't really have anyone else to blame (besides, again, the almighty algorithm) when the actual content of their videos is misconstrued.
yes, the thumbnail is clickbait, nothing new. But unless you literally are in favor of judging a book by its cover, you should have seen more than the cover when discussing the book

Here's the thing though... the point of a cover is... to judge the thing before committing to it fully. Like... the phrase is a cliche for a reason, but it really has more to do with how we treat other people than how we approach books or any other form of entertainment. A lot of thought goes into crafting covers, primarily because that's how most people's first impressions of your content is going to be.

Giving in to using clickbait is a choice, and like any choice there are tradeoffs. It's highly likely a choice that will expand one's audience and therefore one's source of income. On the other hand, you're also going to lose people who would otherwise be more seriously interested in your content. And you honestly cannot really blame anybody for being turned off and/or turned away by it.

I’ve learned that not everyone on YouTube is as bad as their thumbnails or titles. We’re all just trying to make a buck at the end of the day. If you get value from something, great. If not, move on. Use your blocks. Unsubscribe.
