D&D 5E Mike Mearls Twitter-Martial adapts and Artificers

Yeah it may go the way of the Warlord and get eaten. If it does I blame the people who complained about the cool verison we had, which will be a shame to lose it.

He has previously mentioned that the playtest sorcerer may return with a different name. It was simply too different to be a sorcerer so will become it's own thing.

The Sorcerer later on, had some flavour added on being of Bloodlines. While the Sorcerer was originally just a class made for those who didn't like the "vancian" system of Wizards, later on they tried to put more emphasis on things like being descendants of dragons and so on.

I think if the Sorcerer comes back, we'll certainly see prestige classes like the Dragon Disciple get absorbed into it. Certainly the 1st playtest version of the Sorcerer was going that way.

The designers take care to ensure the sorcerer is placed sufficiently far away from the wizard. Many people complain that the sorcerer isn't wizardly enough. Therefore, all the runes point towards the sorcerer returning as part of the wizard.

I wholeheartedly support the original playtest sorcerer getting a bit of boot polish, and returning as its own class.

Personally, I'm more eager for the multiclassing rules than for the sorcerer and/or warlock.

I'm actually more eager for other bits we've not yet seen, too- the gnome, the bard, etc. Random treasure charts would be a huge plus for me, too.

On Twitter Mike said there will be a stunt system with checks as part of movement that can grant advantage or disadvantage. Awesome.

Me too, though you can extrapolate the gnome from the entry in one of the bestiaries they released for Dungeons of Dread (I forget which one). They get magic resistance, but only vs. spells that target the mental stats.
