D&D 5E Mike Mearls Twitter-Martial adapts and Artificers

Me too, but I hope its like the 3.x binder, not the 4e verison where they lost all the creepy distrubing goodness of the Binder class. Its the flavour and how disturbing the visages and the voyeristic way they bind to people that made them interesting and how easy it is to bind one.

Exactly. I love 4E but the 4E version was missing the story and mechanics interaction that made the 3.x version a class that immediately hooked me.

Problem with the ToM classes was they all tried to use a new magic system, and some of them like the Truenamer just totally failed.

Now parts of the Truenamer did make it in to 4e as the Invoker, or at least some of it's fluff did. See I actually like the fluff that was behind both the Truenamer and the Invoker. But neither of them are really going to return as their own classes. The Invoker though I suspect probably more likely to return either as a specialized Cleric (though I really sure not what domains it could be), or as a some sort of Wizard school with access to the "wrathful" cleric spells.

Shadowcaster should very much be another Wizard school, they sort of did in 4e with the Nethermancy.

Binder, probably the thing with them being absorbed into the Warlock class back in 4e made the most sense, and it still makes the most sense in 5e. They just need to tweak the Warlock a bit more whenever they decide to release it again.

For me they'll have to get the risk/reward dynamic right. I loved how the 3.x version gave you access to a suite of powers but there was also a gamble that you would also be saddled with some sort of drawback or detriment. And I loved the roleplaying prompts that it gave you for each bound vestige.

Yeah the 3.x Binder was awesome.

In other news the Sorceror and Warlock almost done I hear on twitter. I doubt the next packet will be next week, but perhaps the week after.

The necromancer is 'definitely' going to be a wizard tradition. From some of his other tweets, I wonder whether the sorcerer is going to join it, rather than being its own class. Will have to wait and see.

Yeah it may go the way of the Warlord and get eaten. If it does I blame the people who complained about the cool verison we had, which will be a shame to lose it.

Mike also mentioned he'd prefer the warden moved over to the ranger, he feels it would be easier to protray the Warden's cc and polymorph effects as a ranger instead of as a Paladin.

I'm curious as what they'll get to replace it, the Avenger maybe?
