Military Occupational Specialties (MOS)

Choose an MOS for advanced training after Basic. You can use these to fill in misc feats from the basic packages or spend them as you level up. Most people stay with a certain MOS their whole careers but some of these, such as the various Terrain schools can be taken one after another. Look to your MOS to figure out what your Primary skills should be.

Looking good. I'm not very well versed in military history other than the general stuff and stuff I experienced myself - so WWI, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam are a bit outside of my knowledge base (as far as getting this specific). But it looks really good to me.

I think with the amount of variation from period to period, and even within periods, all one can hope for is to get it generally right. I can't see anything that would stick out as glaringly wrong to me. And the level of detail and attention to detail you've brought to it is awesome.

Nice job, Man.:)

World War I skills

I would drop the following:

Armor – (drv) Tanks, (ops) Sensors, (ops) Communications, (ops) Vehicle Weapons, (ops) Navigation

Tanks were mostly a British thing. They didn't have radios or sensors, but periscopes.

Artillery – (ops) Artillery, (eng) Structural, (ops) Missile Gunnery, (ops) Navigation, (per) Forward Observer

Nix the Missile skill.

Mountain Warfare College – (sur) Mountain Training, (ath) Climbing, (ath) Rappelling

Not for the US Army. The 10th Mountain Division were our first mountain troops, and formed for WWII. The 10th were just line infantry in WWI. However, the French and Italians had mountain troops.

Recon – (rng) Heavy Weapons, Rifle, (eng) Demolitions, Stealth skill, (ops) Communications
I don't think that's appropriate for the US in WWI. I don't think we had specialized infantry scouting units.

World War II commandos

You might also want to consider:

1st Special Service Force (FSSF) -- Brigade-sized unit planned for Arctic/mountain warfare in an invasion of Norway. 60-70% American, 30-40% Canadian. Actually sent to the Aleutians, and then Italy.

Merrill's Marauders (5307th Provisional Unit) -- Special unit trained in jungle warfare, deployed on a long-range recon raids into Burma from India. Worked closely with the British and Chinese armies, and indigenous troops from the Kachin ethnic group.

442nd Regimental Combat Team (Nisei) -- Formed by Japanese-American volunteers from 'relocation' camps, fought in Italy and southern France, it was the most highly decorated unit in the US Army in WWII. (Source: The US Army in World War II, Osprey Press.)

Marine Raider Battalions

Paramarines -- Airborne Marine commandos. Hoo-ah!

Does this look good so far?

What would the training and requirements be for the other groups?

Tanks were mostly a British thing. They didn't have radios or sensors, but periscopes.

You forget that then-COL George Patton commanded the first US brigade of tanks in combat on the Western Front in WWI, commanding French-built Renaults.

I don't think that's appropriate for the US in WWI. I don't think we had specialized infantry scouting units.

No, but there were infantry scouts and scout sections (which became I&R platoons by WWII). So as an MOS this would be fine for the period.

Neither the Rangers, nor Alamo Scouts, nor Merrill's Marauders were Airborne units in WWII. The Special Operations = Airborne thing is really a child of the '60s.

Looks good otherwise.

so did FSSF have airborne training?

Yes. Full details below.

"1st Special Service Force

On 20 July 1942, former coastal artillery Col. Robert T. Frederick was given a free hand to create a brigade-sized unit for a Churchill-inspired mission into occupied Norway. Uniquely, it was a bi-national force: 30-40% of the unit were crack Canadian volunteers. The GI's were mostly volunteers who responded to Frederick's call for 'paratroopers, ski troops, and commandos'. Some were 'discipline problems' from units that took the traditional opportunity to shift their problems elsewhere, but all had to be personally approved by Col. Frederick, who was looking for aggressive and intelligent outdoorsmen for his intended Commando-style unit. They were highly trained in hand-to-hand combat, demolitions, speed marching, winter and alpine operations, airborne, and amphibious warfare. Innocuously named the 1st Special Service Force (FSSF), the unit had 1,800 men broken into three 'regiments' and a 500 man support unit; GI's and Canadians were mixed throughout.
Their first action was not in Norway, but in the Aleutians in August 1943, but the Japanese were found to have already pulled out from Kiska. The force was then sent to Italy in November 1943, with an attached airborne artillery battalion. In the Anzio beachhead and in the mountains they proved themselves as elite infantry. At Anzio, a German diary said of the Forcemen 'The Black Devils are all around us everytime we come to the line, and we never see them come'. In the South of France, they seized in Commando style an empty coastal artillery battery, and served out the remainder of the war with Col. Frederick's new command, the 1st Airborne Task Force. Also known as the 'Devil's Brigade' or simple 'the North Americans', the FSSF was disbanded in December 1944."
