Mind Blank Question

the Jester

Legend
If a powerful evil wizard cast dominate person on someone, could he mind blank them without ending the domination? It doesn't say anything about suppressing or dispelling existing effects in the mind blank description.

No really, what do you think?

I like the idea of a wizard using ghost dweomer type stuff to make it hard to dispel his domination, and mind blank to counter any cross-domination attempts.

I think that since Mind Blank "protects against all mind-affecting spells" and Dominate Person is a mind-affecting spell Mind Blank will protect it target from the effects of Dominate Person. I do not know if "protects against" means counters and dispels all such spell but IMO it definitely means that it prevents the effects of such spells from affecting the target.

Any other opinions?

I've tried comparing the verbage to protection from evil, but even that doesn't really give me a good comparison, as the effects are much more specific. Still, they're well spelled out, unlike MB's in this context.

My gut reaction is that Mind Blank would suppress the domination - so for the duration of Mind Blank he can act how he wants, but when the mind blank wears off he is still under the domination if it has duration still to run.

Cheers
