Mindflayer's Interview at WotC

Well, I enjoyed it. It's a shame these things are always comedic though. What would it be like if they did a true plot-based web animation series with all the iconic D&D stuff

I laughed.
I got the feeling that the writer wasn't a DnD person.

Still, funny.
"I code HTML..." not a punchline for DnD.
"I have levels of cleric..." would have been a DnD punchline.

Marking HR food?
It has a desert stamp?
Funny, but universal.

Body odor?
Inducing cultural confusion as a way to avoid being eaten?
Only funny because of the creature's voice.

Still, a nice bit of off beat marketing.

I like the idea of a tea drinking mindflayer. It would work well in planescape.

A Troglodyte, eh? That makes more sense. I was thinking Dragonborn (though I suppose the fact that it doesn't have boobs should have been a clue there ;))

This could have only been written by someone intimately familiar with D&D. A non-gamer even knows what a troglodyte or gelatinous cube is? And the desset stamp was fabulous, as what else can a gelatinous cube be once it ingests some fruit? And a trog who can code HTML? I don't have to explain the joke, do I? It's geek humor, and we're ALL geeks!
